There was an upset when second-ranked Sendai 89ers (9-6) lost at home to sixth ranked Shimane Magic (8-7) 88-81 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-81. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sendai 89ers' 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. Five Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. American forward Daniel Fitzgerald (206-84, college: Marquette) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Oneal Mims (208-83, college: Angelo St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers' coach Robert Pierce rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane Magic maintains sixth place with 8-7 record. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the second position with six games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Shimane Magic.
