Regular Season Round 11: Real Canoe - Segle XXI 64-49

Very expected game when 12th ranked Segle XXI (3-7) lost to fifth ranked Real Canoe (7-3) in Madrid 49-64 on Saturday. Real Canoe outrebounded Segle XXI 41-18 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lithuanian forward Dovile Miliauskaite (187-89, college: Towson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Kate Mills (185-86, college: Massachusetts) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Maria Arrojo (186-85) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Irene Gari (184-94) added 10 points in the effort for Segle XXI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Canoe maintains fifth place in Group B with 7-3 record. Segle XXI lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Real Canoe will face Palma (#15) in Palma de Mallorca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Segle XXI will play at home against Casablanca (#4) in Zaragoza.
