Regular Season Round 8: MIA Academy - Sokhumi 82-93
Date: December 3, 2011
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#4) and MIA (#5). MIA was defeated at home 82-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. MIA was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 22-10 charge of Sokhumi, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded MIA 47-27 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and international guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin, agency: Alti Sport) who added 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. American guard Robo Kreps (182-88, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: N.E.T.) responded with 24 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Pro One Sports) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. MIA's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sokhumi (6-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Kutaisi. MIA at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena .
