The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Barca Regal II as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Barca Regal II defeated 10th ranked Tenerife in Barcelona 89-79. The game was mostly controlled by Barca Regal II. Tenerife managed to win fourth quarter 25-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Casado Ivan stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese center Papa Mbaye (209-90) chipped in 8 points and 17 rebounds. Barca Regal II's coach Borja Comenge used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry, agency: Prossin Sports Management) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Tenerife players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Tenerife keeps the tenth place with six games lost. Tenerife will play next round against Aurteneche M. trying to get back on the winning streak. Barca Regal II will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
