Regular Season Round 8: Netanya - B.C. Habikaa 88-80

Elitzur Netanya can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked B.C. Habikaa (4-3) 88-80. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-13. But B.C. Habikaa won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Elitzur Netanya made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward Christian Burns (203-85, college: Philadelphia, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Brian Asbury (200-86, college: Miami, FL) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Elitzur Netanya players scored in double figures. Guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and swingman Dion Dowell (200-85, college: Houston) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for B.C. Habikaa. Elitzur Netanya (1-6) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. B.C. Habikaa at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Maccabi Rishon. Elitzur Netanya will play against higher ranked Bnei Hasharon (#9) in Hod Hasharon in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. B.C. Habikaa will play at home against Maccabi Ashdod (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
