Regular Season Round 10: Pyrinto II - BC Nokia 87-69

Very important is a road loss of third ranked BC Nokia (7-3) against sixth ranked Pyrinto II (6-4) on Sunday night. Visiting BC Nokia was defeated by Pyrinto II in Tampere 87-69. After very bad start, BC Nokia stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 1 point 36-35. But it was not enough and Pyrinto II took back the control in second half. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BC Nokia to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Jason Stamper (200-85, college: Minnesota, agency: JEMsports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Swingman Osku Heinonen (194-92) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Stamper is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Timo Riihela (193-80) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for BC Nokia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pyrinto II moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lapua. BC Nokia at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Tapiolan Honka. Pyrinto II will play against league's leader Forssan Koripojat on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Nokia will play against Ura Basket in Kaarina and hopes to get back on the winning track.
