There was no surprise when 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-6) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-3) 76-69. Maccabi Ashdod was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Maccabi Rishon, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Ashdod helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American forward Brandon Bowman (204-84, college: Georgetown) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import swingman Joe Crawford (196-86, college: Kentucky, agency: Priority Sports) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against B.C. Habikaa (#6).
