Regular Season Round 12: Groningen - Rotterdam 60-50
Date: December 4, 2011
Leader Groningen delivered the eighth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Rotterdam (1-10) 60-50. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Rotterdam managed to win third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotterdam to just 6 points in second quarter. Groningen forced 19 Rotterdam turnovers and outrebounded them 48-34 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Alex Wesby (196-80, college: Temple, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Avis Wyatt (211-84, college: Virginia St.) who added 6 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Tyrone Sally (201-82, college: W.Virginia, agency: Gamble Sports Management) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Serbian guard Stefan Mladenovic (190-90, agency: Court Side) scored 17 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Groningen maintains first position with 8-3 record. Rotterdam lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Groningen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rotterdam will play against Weert (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
