Regular Season Round 9: Kings - Taipans 69-64

Date: December 4, 2011
There was a small surprise in Sydney where seventh ranked Kings (5-6) beat 4th placed Cairns Taipans (5-5) 69-64 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cairns Taipans won third quarter 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international center Julian Khazzouh (209-86) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Aaron Bruce (191-84) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Andrew Warren (195-87, college: Bradley, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 19 points and the other American import point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany, agency: Pro One Sports) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Cairns Taipans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kings moved-up to fifth place. Cairns Taipans at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. Kings will face Townsville Crocodiles (#7) in Wulguru in the next round. Cairns Taipans will play at home against Melbourne Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
