Regular Season Round 20: JX Sunflowers - Denso Iris 87-61

An interesting game for JX Sunflowers (17-3) which hosted in Kashiwa 3rd ranked Denso Iris (12-8). First ranked JX Sunflowers had an easy win 87-61. It looked good early as Denso Iris took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JX Sunflowers had a 21-9 second period charge getting the lead and Denso Iris were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-87. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Denso Iris' 26 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Denso Iris 45-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Oh Okami (170-82) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and swingman Masaru Honda (175-89) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Forward Tamotsu Huziwara (175-87) responded with 26 points and international center Maki Takada (183-89) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX Sunflowers have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-3 record. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. JX Sunflowers will play against bottom-ranked Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Denso Iris will play on the road against Fujitsu RW (#3) in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
