Regular Season Round 12: Leuven - Liege 81-83

Date: December 6, 2011
Important game to mention about took place in Leuven. Seventh ranked Belgacom Liege (4-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Leuven Bears (5-5) 83-81 on Tuesday evening. The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-21 Leuven Bears' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-81 at the end of the game. Belgacom Liege made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) who scored that evening 27 points and the other American import center Len Matela (206-80, college: Bowling Green, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Five Belgacom Liege players scored in double figures. Even 35 points (!!!) by American guard Brandon Freeman (191-83, college: UALR) did not help to save the game for Leuven Bears. Naturalized American forward Ian Hanavan (202-80, college: Evansville, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Belgacom Liege have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 4-5 record. Leuven Bears at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Belgacom Liege will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leuven Bears will play again on the road against Belgacom Liege (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
