Regular Season Round 8: Shanghai S. - Guangdong ST 76-95

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Shanghai Sharks (2-5) were crushed at home by fourth ranked Guandong Tigers (6-2) 95-76 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Shanghai Sharks managed to win fourth quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers forced 27 Shanghai Sharks turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guandong Tigers made 8 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Shanghai Sharks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Aaron Brooks (183-85, college: Oregon) who scored 23 points. International forward Peng Zhou (207-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American forward Ryan Forehan-Kelly (196-80, college: California) produced 21 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers moved-up to second place. Shanghai Sharks at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Foshan. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#4) in Hangzhou in the next round. Shanghai Sharks will play on the road against DongGuan Leopards (#6) and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
