Not a big story in a game in Tianjin where 17th ranked TianJin Rongcheng (2-6) was outplayed by thirteenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (3-3) 112-90 on Wednesday. TianJin Rongcheng was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Shanxi Zhongyu forced 19 TianJin Rongcheng turnovers. Strangely TianJin Rongcheng outrebounded Shanxi Zhongyu 49-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by TianJin Rongcheng helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 29 points. Power forward Donnell Harvey (203-80, college: Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and center David Harrison (213-82, college: Colorado) added 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bayi Fubang. TianJin Rongcheng lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Jiangsu D. and Qingdao DS. Shanxi Zhongyu is looking forward to face Qingdao Double Star (#16) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TianJin Rongcheng will play against Bayi Fubang in Ningbo and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
