Regular Season Round 8: Xinjiang FT - Qingdao E. 91-81

Very expected game in Urumqi where 16th ranked Qingdao Double Star (2-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (4-2) 91-81 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Xinjiang Flying Tige. Qingdao Double Star managed to win fourth quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Xinjiang Flying Tige dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Qingdao Double Star's 28. The best player for the winners was Australian point guard Patrick Mills (183-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Bateer Mengke (210-75) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. American guard Lester Hudson (191-84, college: Tenn-Martin) produced 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (203-88) added 6 points and 20 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to fifth place. Qingdao Double Star lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Jiangsu D. and TianJin R.. Xinjiang Flying Tige are looking forward to face Shandong Bulls (#12) in Jinan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Double Star will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
