Regular Season Round 19: Handlova - Prievidza 91-84

The game between third ranked Prievidza (10-7) and sixth ranked Handlova (8-9) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Prievidza was defeated by Handlova in a tough game in Handlova 84-91. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Prievidza won third quarter 28-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Handlova made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Prievidza turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Prievidza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Anthony Jones (194-84, college: Indiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. His fellow American import forward Sean Hampton (195-75, college: Alders.-Broad.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Bermudas-British swingman Sullivan Phillips (198-79, college: Wash.Adventist, agency: Interperformances) answered with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Dutch point guard Kasper Averink (183-93) added 23 points in the effort for Prievidza. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Handlova maintains sixth place with 8-9 record. Prievidza at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Handlova are looking forward to face league's leader Nitra in Nitra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Prievidza will play at home against Levice and is hoping to win this game.
