There was a minor upset when 4th placed Huracanes (20-12) lost to sixth ranked Soles (20-13) in Tampico 85-93 on Thursday. Soles made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Huracanes turnovers. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Carl Edwards (196-81, college: Charleston) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Darren Fells (201-86, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Center Albert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Huracanes. Four Soles and five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Huracanes' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Soles have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Soles went down to seventh position due to points difference. Loser Huracanes dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. Soles will face Correcaminos (#10) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round.
