Regular Season Round 9: Guangdong ST - Guangsha L. 118-107

An interesting game for Guandong Tigers (7-2) which hosted in Dongguan 4th placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (5-3). Second ranked Guandong Tigers managed to get a 11-point victory 118-107. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions was better in third quarter 33-32. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers forced 20 Zhejiang Guangsha Lions turnovers. Strangely Zhejiang Guangsha Lions outrebounded Guandong Tigers 49-34 including a 41-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Aaron Brooks (183-85, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and international swingman ShiPeng Wang (197-83) chipped in 21 points. Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Wilson Chandler (203-87, college: De Paul) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Beijing Ducks. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Guandong Tigers will play against Jilin Tigers (#11) in Changchun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play on the road against DongGuan Leopards (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
