Very expected game when 16th ranked Qingdao Double Star (2-7) lost to tenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (4-3) in Taiyuan 123-131 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 70-55 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Shanxi Zhongyu shot 64.9 percent from the field. They also forced 20 Qingdao Double Star turnovers. Qingdao Double Star was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) contributed with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. Shanxi Zhongyu's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Lester Hudson (191-84, college: Tenn-Martin) answered with a double-double by scoring 58 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (203-88) added 30 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) in the effort for Qingdao Double Star. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bayi Fubang. Qingdao Double Star lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with seven games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will face Shandong Bulls (#13) in Jinan in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Qingdao Double Star will play at home against Bayi Fubang in Ningbo.
