Regular Season Round 10: Hokkaido L. - Mitsubishi DD 82-77
Date: December 10, 2011
Not a big story in a game in Saporro where 7th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (7-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Hokkaido L. (9-11) 82-77. It looked good early as Mitsubishi Dolphins took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hokkaido L. had a 17-15 second period charge getting the lead and Mitsubishi Dolphins were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-82. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 39-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Ryota Sakurai (194-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Walter Brown-Matsushima (200-75, college: Boston U.) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hokkaido L. maintains fifth position with 9-11 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins at the other side keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Hokkaido L.'s next round opponent will be league's leader Toyota Alvark in Fuchu and it may be quite challenging game. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play at home against Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
