Regular Season Round 10: Bendigo S. - AIS 80-58
Date: December 10, 2011
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Bendigo Spirit (6-6) crushed at home 9th ranked AIS (1-12) 80-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bendigo Spirit. AIS was better in third quarter 14-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded AIS 38-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Kristi Harrower (166-75) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Deanna Smith (179-80) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) replied with 13 points and forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) added 13 points in the effort for AIS. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bendigo Spirit maintains seventh position with 6-6 record. AIS lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Bendigo Spirit will face higher ranked Dandenong Rangers (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AIS will play against Canberra Capitals (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
