Regular Season Round 19: Okinawa GK - Sendai 89ers 80-67

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Okinawa GK as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Okinawa GK defeated much higher ranked Sendai 89ers at home 80-67. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Sendai 89ers managed to win third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. British power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, college: Bellarmine) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Oneal Mims (208-83, college: Angelo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import forward Johnny Dukes (203-84, college: San Bernardino CC) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the second place with seven games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Okinawa GK will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Sendai 89ers at home.
