Everything could happen in Las Palmas at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Gran Canaria 2014 and 13th ranked Blusens Monbus had identical 3-7 record. This time Gran Canaria 2014 used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Santoago de Comp 84-73 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria 2014. Blusens Monbus was better in third quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Blusens Monbus 34-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gran Canaria 2014 made 7 blocks. Blusens Monbus was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American-Azerbaijan forward Spencer Nelson (203-80, college: Utah St.) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gran Canaria 2014 (4-7) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with FIATC Joventut and Asefa Estudian. Newly promoted Blusens Monbus dropped to the fifteenth position with eight games lost. Gran Canaria 2014 will face bottom-ranked Blancos de Rueda (#18) in Valladolid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Blusens Monbus will play at home against Asefa Estudiantes in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
