Regular Season Round 9: Samedicino - MIA Academy 80-105
Date: December 10, 2011
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: MIA (#7) and Samedicino-Academia (#9). Samedicino-Academia was crushed at home by 25 points 80-105 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. MIA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Samedicino-Academia's 38. They outrebounded Samedicino-Academia 57-42 including 21 on the offensive glass. MIA looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Pro One Sports) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners and his fellow American import guard Robo Kreps (182-88, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: N.E.T.) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was center Beka Bekauri (207-91) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Konstantine Tomaradze (197-90) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Samedicino-Academia players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. MIA (4-4) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with TSU Tbilisi. Samedicino-Academia lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. MIA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi TSU.
