There was a minor upset in Krakow where 7th ranked GTK Gliwice (6-6) was defeated by tenth ranked AZS AGH Alstom (6-6) 77-62 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-62. It was a great shooting night for AZS AGH Alstom especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AZS AGH Alstom made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Michal Szewczyk (184-85) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Grzegorz Dudzik (190-84) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Przemyslaw Malona (198-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Pawel Szymanski (187-92) added 18 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS AGH Alstom moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with GTK Gliwice and HK Zory. AZS AGH Alstom will face higher ranked BM Wegiel Stal (#3) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
