JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (16-4) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Toshiba Thunders (2-18) in Kanagawa 75-71. The guests trailed by 16 points after three quarters before their 29-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Toyota Alvark outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 33-21 including 21 on the defensive glass. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The other American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 11 points. The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (190-85) produced 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toyota Alvark have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-4 record, which they share with Aishin SH. Toshiba Thunders lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Toyota Alvark will meet at home Hokkaido L. (#5) in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
