Regular Season Round 19: Saitama Bron. - Shinshu BW 107-91

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Saitama Broncos (6-9) beat at home higher ranked Shinshu BW (8-9) 107-91 on Saturday. Shinshu BW was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 36-19 charge of Saitama Broncos, which allowed them to win the game. They made 41-of-42 free shots (97.6 percent) during the game, while Shinshu BW only scored nine points from the stripe. Saitama Broncos forced 19 Shinshu BW turnovers. Shinshu BW was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a great evening for swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (made all of his twenty four free throws !!!). point guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) helped adding 25 points and 8 assists. At the losing side power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) responded with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saitama Broncos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Loser Shinshu BW dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Saitama Broncos will face again higher ranked Shinshu BW (#6) in Nagano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
