The game between second ranked Lleida Basquet (10-3) and eighth ranked Menorca Basquet (8-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Lleida Basquet was crushed by Menorca Basquet in Mahon 75-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lleida Basquet. The game without a history. Menorca Basquet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lleida Basquet's 28. They outrebounded Lleida Basquet 39-18 including a 25-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman David Navarro (192-83) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American-Austrian guard Jason Detrick (198-80, college: Oklahoma) responded with 17 points and American-Madagascar power forward Charles Ramsdell (208-85, college: Tulsa, agency: Court Side) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Menorca Basquet moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Melilla. Lleida Basquet at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Menorca Basquet is looking forward to face Palencia Baloncesto (#6) on the road in the next round. Lleida Basquet will play against the league's leader Canarias (#1) in Tenerife and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
