Regular Season Round 12: BBC Nitia - Heffingen 62-79
Date: December 10, 2011
Bottom-ranked Heffingen managed to get a second victory, breaking the two-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Heffingen won against ninth-ranked BBC Nitia in Bettembourg 79-62. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference suggests that Heffingen is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Heffingen. BBC Nitia was better in second period 15-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely BBC Nitia outrebounded Heffingen 44-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Canadian forward Billy McNutt (203-85) who scored that evening 27 points and 7 rebounds and guard Domigue Benseghir (183-85) supported him with 21 points. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) did not help to save the game for BBC Nitia. Latvian power forward Janis Poznaks (202-83) added 10 points and 17 rebounds. Heffingen (2-10) moved-up to ninth place. BBC Nitia lost ninth consecutive game. BBC Nitia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Heffingen will play against higher ranked Basket Esch (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BBC Nitia will play against the league's second-placed Sparta (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
