There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (4-13) defeated at home 8th ranked Oita Heat Devils (4-12) 82-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Iwate Big Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Iwate Big Bulls especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a great evening for forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) helped adding 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Vlasios Vlaikidis used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side center Zack Atkinson (206-86, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Iwate Big Bulls. They maintain tenth place with 4-13 record. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again higher ranked Oita Heat Devils (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
