Regular Season Round 12: Sparta - Musel Pikes 94-98

The most important game in the last round took place in Bertrange between second ranked Sparta (9-3) and sixth ranked Musel Pikes (6-6) on Saturday night. Sparta was defeated by Musel Pikes in a tough game at home 94-98. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Sparta. Sparta trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 32-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-98 at the end of the game. Strangely Sparta outrebounded Musel Pikes 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-British forward Philip Perre (198-79, college: N.Alabama) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Guy Schmit (187-80) who added 26 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Kasey Ulin (184-82, college: Dickinson St.) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Five Musel Pikes and four Sparta players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Basket Esch. Sparta at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Musel Pikes is looking forward to face Residence (#8) in Bereldange in the next round. Sparta will play at home against BBC Nitia (#10) in Bettembourg and is hoping to win this game.
