There was no surprise when 13th ranked Viterbo (2-9) was outleveled at home by first ranked Ragusa (10-1) 74-43 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ragusa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 6 points in second quarter. Ragusa dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Viterbo's 28. Ragusa forced 34 Viterbo turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Mozambican center Clarisse Machanguana (194-73, college: ODU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Maria Buzzanca (171-76) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Alice Richter (184-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 steals and Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) added 10 points in the effort for Viterbo. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ragusa. They maintain first place in South with 10-1 record. Viterbo lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Ragusa will face S.E.Battipaglia (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
