Leading Akita Happinets (11-6) recorded its sixth loss on the court of seventh ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns. Visitors were edged by Miyazaki Shining Suns 89-87. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Miyazaki Shining Suns forced 22 Akita Happinets turnovers. Strangely Akita Happinets outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 45-26 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) accounted for 25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns players scored in double figures. Miyazaki Shining Suns' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Michael Gardener (182-81, college: SE Louisiana) came up with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Kazuhiro Shoji (191-74) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Akita Happinets in the defeat. Miyazaki Shining Suns maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. They share it with Fukuoka Rizing. Miyazaki Shining Suns will again play against league's leader Akita Happinets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
