Regular Season Round 20: Saitama Bron. - Shinshu BW 84-87

A very close game took place in Saitama between Shinshu BW and Saitama Broncos. Sixth ranked Shinshu BW (9-9) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Saitama Broncos (6-10). Shinshu BW managed to escape with a 3-point win 87-84 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 29-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shinshu BW dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 28. They outrebounded Saitama Broncos 52-23 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Guard Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 23 points. point guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists and swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) added 24 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chiba Jets. Loser Saitama Broncos dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Shinshu BW will meet higher ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Saitama Broncos will play against Niigata Albirex (#6) and hope to secure a win.
