Regular Season Round 10: Hitachi SR - Panasonic T. 65-69

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Osaka: Panasonic Trians (#4) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#3). Hitachi Sunrockers were defeated at home 65-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hitachi Sunrockers won third quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Panasonic Trians have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-10 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the third place with eight games lost. Panasonic Trians are looking forward to face league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Tochigi Brex and are hoping to win this game.
