There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Oita Heat Devils (4-13) were defeated on the road by tenth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (5-13) 73-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Iwate Big Bulls. Oita Heat Devils was better in third quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and guard Yoshiaki Yamamoto (-82) who added 14 points during the contest. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import center Zack Atkinson (206-86, college: Cal-Irvine) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 5-13 record. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face higher ranked Fukuoka Rizing (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
