Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (8-4) outscored at home 9th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (4-7) 97-76. The game was mostly controlled by Lapuan Korikobrat. Porvoon Tarmo was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lapuan Korikobrat shot 23 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Porvoon Tarmo only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 59-42 including 22 on the offensive glass. Porvoon Tarmo was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Even a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds by American guard Benzor Simmons (195-88, college: Tenn-Martin) did not help to save the game for Porvoon Tarmo. Naturalized American guard La Trice Little (186-79, college: Mercy) added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lapuan Korikobrat have an impressive five-game winning streak. Lapuan Korikobrat moved-up to fourth place, which they share with BC Nokia and Pyrinto II. Porvoon Tarmo at the other side keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat (#12) in Helsinki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Porvoon Tarmo will play at home against BC Nokia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
