Regular Season Round 9: Galil Gilboa - Elizur Ashkelon 79-76

Important game to mention about took place in Galil. Second ranked Galil Gilboa (6-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Ironi Ashkelon (5-4) 79-76 on Sunday evening. Ironi Ashkelon was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Ironi Ashkelon 33-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Galil Gilboa players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American Romeo Travis (200-84, college: Akron) stepped up and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and international center Ido Kozikaro (203-78) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Galil Gilboa's coach Lior Lubin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) with 23 points and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Marco Killingsworth (202-82, college: Indiana, agency: Interperformances) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Galil Gilboa have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-2 record behind leader Maccabi T-A. Ironi Ashkelon lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel Holon. Galil Gilboa will play against Elitzur Netanya (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ironi Ashkelon will have a break next round.
