The most exciting game of round 9 in the Premier League took place in Rishon Le-Zion. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-4) to first ranked Maccabi T-A (7-1) 76-75 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Rishon. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American swingman Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points. International power forward Lior Eliyahu (206-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Derwin Kitchen (193-86, college: Florida St., agency: VVG Sports) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (201-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-1 record. Maccabi Rishon at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with B.C. Habikaa. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face B.C. Habikaa (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
