Regular Season Round 35: Panteras - Huracanes 71-74

Twelfth-ranked Panteras (9-24) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Huracanes (22-12) in Aguascalientes on Monday. The visitors from Tampico managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panteras. Panteras were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Panteras 42-26 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Albert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Huracanes' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jonathan Smith (206-82, college: Bowie St.) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Bahamas forward Aaron Eneas (202-78, agency: Promotex) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Huracanes moved-up to fourth place. Loser Panteras keep the twelfth position with 24 games lost. Huracanes will meet Barreteros (#8) in the next round. Panteras will play against Correcaminos (#9) in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
