Second Stage Round 7: Quimsa - Boca Jrs 101-72
Date: December 14, 2011
Everything could happen in Santiado Estero at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Quimsa and 10th ranked Boca Juniors had identical 3-3 record. This time Quimsa used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Buenos Aires 101-72 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Quimsa. Boca Juniors was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimsa dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Boca Juniors' 40. They outrebounded Boca Juniors 36-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. American power forward James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American-Puerto Rican guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 22 points. Five Quimsa players scored in double figures. American guard Larry OBannon (194-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) produced 16 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import power forward Derrick Alston (208-72, college: Duquesne, agency: Priority Sports) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Quimsa (4-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lanus. Loser Boca Juniors dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Quimsa will face GECR Indalo (#15) in Comodoro R. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boca Juniors will play on the road against Libertad Sunchales (#4).
