The game in Zacatecas was quite interesting. Fourth ranked Huracanes (23-12) played at the court of 8th ranked Barreteros (16-18). Huracanes managed to secure a 5-point victory 74-69 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Huracanes made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Barreteros only scored nine points from the stripe. Strangely Barreteros outrebounded Huracanes 45-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Barreteros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Ollie Bailey (201-85, college: Oklahoma City) who added 17 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Alejandro Aguirre (204-81) with 8 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Demetric Shaw (191-78, college: Kent St.) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Huracanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 23-12 record. Barreteros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 18 games lost. Huracanes are looking forward to face Halcones UV Xalapa (#7) on the road in the next round. Barreteros will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
