Regular Season Round 14: CB Tarragona - Granada 84-79

Rather expected game when 17th ranked CB Granada (4-10) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (6-8) 84-79. It looked good early as CB Granada took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CB Tarragona 2017 had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and CB Granada was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-84. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers) notched 34 points (!!!) to lead the effort and Latvian center Andrejs Selakovs (210-88, agency: Players Group) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even 16 points by the former international forward Francisco Sanchez (201-79) did not help to save the game for CB Granada. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Four CB Granada players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CB Tarragona 2017 moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Breogan and Leon. CB Granada lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with ten games lost. CB Tarragona 2017's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ford Burgos (#3) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CB Granada will play against Grupo Iruna Navarra (#7) in Pamplona and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.
