Regular Season Round 10: Rustavi - Batumi 85-93

Batumi can celebrate finally their first win this season after eight consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Rustavi, where they defeated Energy Invest (0-9) 93-85 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-21. But Energy Invest won third quarter 24-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Energy Invest 40-29 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Batumi made 8 blocks. Energy Invest was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Nika Ramishvili (181-94) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Batumi players scored in double figures. Guard Luka Khmelidze (195-92) produced 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard Revaz Chachanidze (183-90) added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals respectively for lost side. Energy Invest's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Batumi maintains tenth position with 1-8 record. It was Energy Invest's ninth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. Batumi will face higher ranked Kutaisi (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Energy Invest will play against MIA (#5) in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
