Regular Season Round 11: Blaze - Wildcats 77-74

The most exciting game of round 11 in the NBL took place in Broadbeach. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Perth Wildcats (8-5) to seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze (5-5) 77-74 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 19-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gold Coast Blaze dominated on the defensive end, holding Perth Wildcats to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Gold Coast Blaze forced 19 Perth Wildcats turnovers. The best player for the winners was international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) who scored 28 points. The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) produced 9 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis, agency: Warren Sports International) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Perth Wildcats' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gold Coast Blaze moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Crocodiles. Defending champion Perth Wildcats keep the second position with five games lost. Gold Coast Blaze is looking forward to face Adelaide 36ers (#8) in Findon in the next round. Perth Wildcats will play at home against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers (#1) in Auckland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
