Regular Season Round 11: Tochigi Brex - Hitachi SR 68-60

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (10-12) beat at home 3rd placed Hitachi Sunrockers (12-10) 68-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 42-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Daiji Yamada (200-81) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tochigi Brex maintains fifth place with 10-12 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Hokkaido L. (#7) in Saporro in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses (#2) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
