Very expected game when 8th ranked AZS AGH Alstom (6-7) was smashed by third ranked BM Wegiel Stal (9-4) in Ostrow Wlkp. 101-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. BM Wegiel Stal led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AZS AGH Alstom's 40. BM Wegiel Stal forced 20 AZS AGH Alstom turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. BM Wegiel Stal looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by AZS AGH Alstom's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when BM Wegiel Stal made 12 blocks. Quite impressive performance for guard Marcin Kalowski (191-80) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 assists. Forward Jakub Dryjanski (201-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four BM Wegiel Stal players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. BM Wegiel Stal moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted AZS AGH Alstom dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. BM Wegiel Stal will face league's leader Slask II W. in Wroclaw in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AZS AGH Alstom will play on the road against MKS Skierniew.
