Regular Season Round 11: Toyota Alvark - Hokkaido L. 79-73
Date: December 17, 2011
There was no surprise in Fuchu where 5th ranked Hokkaido L. (9-13) was defeated by first ranked Toyota Alvark (18-4) 79-73 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Toyota Alvark's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) produced 24 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) added 13 points and 16 rebounds respectively for the guests. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-4 record. Hokkaido L. at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#6) in Nagoya in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hokkaido L. will play at home against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
