There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Zyrardowianka (4-8) lost at home to thirteenth ranked SMS PZKosz (3-9) 78-73 on Saturday. Zyrardowianka was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of SMS PZKosz, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Zyrardowianka turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when SMS PZKosz made 15 blocks. It was a very good performance for guard Jakub Maksymiuk (189-93) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Kacper Borowski (201-94) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Mariusz Lapinski (194-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and forward Artur Bajer (195-83, agency: Promotex) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Zyrardowianka. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SMS PZKosz moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with GKK Gorzow. Zyrardowianka lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. SMS PZKosz will face higher ranked Zuraw Gniewno (#6) in Gniewino in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
