Regular Season Round 10: Faenza - Taranto 51-67

Leader Taranto delivered the ninth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked CA Faenza (5-5) 67-51. It looked good early as CA Faenza took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Taranto had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and CA Faenza was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-67. Taranto dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to CA Faenza's 24. Taranto forced 23 CA Faenza turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Romanian center Florina Pascalau (193-82) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Serbian guard Marija Eric (164-83) replied with 20 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Paola Mauriello (185-81) added 14 points in the effort for CA Faenza. Taranto (9-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. CA Faenza at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Taranto will play against Cagliari CUS (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CA Faenza will play against Priolo (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
