Regular Season Round 11: Tochigi Brex - Hitachi SR 66-65

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Hitachi Sunrockers (12-10) were edged on the road by fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (10-12) 66-65 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who scored 32 points. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 5 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and forward Junki Kano (192-88) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex maintains fifth place with 10-12 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Hokkaido L. (#7) in Saporro in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses (#2) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
